Gerakan Batu Division had visited 7 primary and secondary schools in the Batu constituency yesterday giving away Reader’s Digest magazine to these schools for the leisure reading of the students and teachers.

Dr Dominic Lau who was in charge of giving away the magazines said that the 7 schools which are benefited are SJK(C) Jinjang Tengah (1) and SJK(C) Jinjang Tengah (2), SJK (C) Jinjang Selatan,  SJK(C) Mun Choong, SMK Raja Abdullah, SMK Dato Ibrahim Yaacob and SK Tiara Permai.

Dr Dominic Lau said, “We are glad to receive the sponsorship of 3 thousand Reader’s Digest magazine from the The Federation of Malaysian Clans and Guilds Youth Association.  We have got in touch with more than 20 schools in the Batu constituency as to date, and we will continue to distribute the remaining magazines to more schools.  Our main objective of doing this is to improve the reading culture in the schools within Batu constituency and to allow more students to cultivate the habit of reading.”

Apart from this, Dr Dominic Lau also added that Gerakan will continue to serve the people of Batu constituency.  Besides giving a hand to ease the locals of their livelihood problems, Gerakan also hopes to contribute on the aspect of education.
