Gerakan Batu Division had handed the notice to move in to the 5 families whose low cost houses at Jinjang Utara C4 Long House of Sentul were engulfed by fire last Christmas yesterday. The families can now shift into PPR Pekan Kepong.

With effect from today, the 5 affected families may inform the management of the low cost flats with the notice to move in for the purpose of collecting the keys of the units and inspect the facilities of the units before they prepare to move in. The person in charge of the handing over of the Move In notices, Gerakan Youth Secretary General Dr Dominic Lau said, Gerakan Batu Division had been following up with various post disaster effort help the affected residents to rebuild their homes since the tragedy took place.

Dr Dominic Lau said, “Besides helping the victims of the fire to prepare the necessary documents for low cost flats application, we had also provided the school going children with school uniform and other necessary schooling items to return to school. Apart from that, due to some delay in the application process, the victims had resided for 3 weeks in the relief center. We apologize for that. However, we will do our best to help the families to move in to their new homes including arranging for lorry and helpers to help the families with the shifting.”

Dr Dominic Lau also added, “not only that, we also managed to get a 3 months rental waive for the 5 families in our meeting with the DBKL this morning, this will definitely reduce their financial burden. We have also successfully arranged for a family with a handicapped member to move into a lower ground unit so that they can have easy access.”

Dr Dominic Lau also stressed that Gerakan Batu Division will continue to serve the people of the Batu and walk the talk to help ease the burden and resolve their livelihood problems.
