Gerakan Deputy President, Dato' Chang Ko Youn today called on Pakatan Rakyat Leaders to apologise to the Malaysian Public for all the wild and baseless allegations made against the judiciary and the government with regards to the sodomy trial of Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

"It is only fair they apologise to the Malaysian public because over the past 3 years, they have made wild, spurious and unfounded allegations against the judiciary and government of manipulating the judicial process, manufacturing these charges and seeking to end Anwar's career. The acquittal vindicates the government and PR Leaders must have the courage to apologise," stressed Chang who is Chairman of the Gerakan Central Bureau on the Law and Human Rights.

Chang added that Anwar's acquittal by the High Court shows the judiciary is independent and not an extension of the Executive as claimed by Pakatan Rakyat Leaders. He said the courts are independent and today's decision reinforces that.

"I believe the Malaysian public is wise enough to sieve through the PR propaganda, and will not be taken in by their baseless allegations against the government. This decision shows that the institutions of government are intact and Malaysia is a functioning democracy," Chang said.
