Gerakan Youth Secretary General, Dr Dominic Lau today criticizes the act of raiding an appreciation dinner held in Damansara Utama Methodist Church by the Selangor Islamic Affairs Department. Dr Dominic views the act of JAIS as highly inconsiderate, insensitive and disrespectful as the body has disrupted a peaceful community event. And clearly, JAIS had not been sensitive enough when dealing with matters related to religion for it is a common sense that religious issues are sensitive issues in this country. What is more disappointing is that JAIS was unable to produce proof of complaint when raiding the dinner, this shows how incompetent and barbaric the organization is. “JAIS cannot be allowed to behave this way for it will be disruptive to any other community events in the future and it will definitely create anger and dissatisfaction among the public,” said Dr Dominic. |

He also expresses his deepest sympathy to the family of the school girl. Dr Dominic pointed out that there has been a number of recurrences of students jumping off school buildings over the past few months which seems to have become a trend. The students nowadays could not cope with daily life pressure and many would imitate suicide cases by choosing to end their life whenever they meet with obstacles in life. |

In response to the consultative meeting dated 27 July, 2011 at WISMA Perkeso, we from Sedar Institute is in the opinion that minimum wage is a legal right which covers all workers in Malaysia regardless of their nationality. A minimum wage is the lowest hourly, daily or monthly salary legally due to the employee by the employer. The purpose of having a minimum wage bill is to prevent exploitation and eradicate poverty and it is especially important during a time when the nation is faced with tremendous inflation where price hike on goods have led to great burden to the public especially the blue collar group. |
