Gerakan Vice President Dato’ Mah Siew Keong today congratulates the four UKM students who had succeeded in their appeal which draws Malaysia a step closer to wider freedom of expression and more freedom to practice academic freedom for the purpose of pursuing knowledge amongst students.
 
“In this new era it is no longer realistic and unreasonable to be restricting undergraduates from observing a by-election, what more political science students. The restriction itself infringes the basic civil liberties of individuals .  The university and college students today are the leaders of the nation tomorrow, it is important that they are given ample exposure to the politics in the country as they are the ones who will determine the future of our country,” said Dato’ Mah.

民政党副主席拿督马袖强今天祝贺4位成功上诉得直的国大生，他们的上诉个案为我国大专生在言论及学术研究方面争取了更大的自由空间。
 
马袖强说，“在现今时代不允许大专生，尤其是政治系大学生观察补选过程是非常无理和不实际的作法。这项禁令已严重触犯了我国宪法最基本的人权。大专生是国家的未来栋梁，他们应该对我国的政治动态有更深入的了解以及参与的自由，因为他们将会是决定国家未来的明日领袖。”

Gerakan Youth Secretary General Dr. Dominic Lau said that the ruling made by the Court of Appeal today which overthrown the Kuala Lumpur High Court decision made last year September had adjudicated that University Kebangsaan Malaysia using Universities and University Colleges Act (UUCA) in dealing with 4 Political Science undergraduates who were accused to have participated in the by-election of Hulu Selangor is a move that is in accordance with the constitution. The reason behind the benchmark ruling by the Court of Appeal is because the Article 15 (5) of UUCA which permeates public university to take action against the undergraduates is in violation to the constitution and freedom of speech. Gerakan Youth who has been offering full assistance and support to these undergraduates is pleased with the ruling made by the Court of Appeal, whilst congratulating the four on their successful appeal in challenging the UUCA that has been denying the freedom of university students to join politics.

民青团总秘书刘华才博士表示，针对上诉庭今日裁决，推翻吉隆坡高庭在去年9月宣判国大援引大专法令对付因参与乌雪补选而面对校方纪律对付的4名国大政治系学生是符合宪法的举动，上诉庭做出这项标杆宣判是因为大专法令中允许国立大学向学生采取纪律行动的第15（5）条文已经违反了宪法和言论自由。曾全面辅助并鼎力支持这批学生的民青团对上诉庭的裁决深感欣慰，同时也恭喜这4名学生上诉得直，全力挑战及阻止大专法令继续钳制大专生参政自由。

The Auditor-General Report for 2010 that have been released recently has rated most ministries and government departments as “excellent” in their financial management. However it also pointed out some startling shortcomings at the same time. Dato’ Mah Siew Keong, the Vice President of Gerakan today has called for immediate and stern action to be taken against those ministries and government departments who incurred in such wasteful practice as reported.

Dato’ Mah said that the public cannot tolerate such wasteful practice by the government, such phenomenon has been happening every year as revealed by the Auditor-General Report. Some confounding mistakes such as overpaid by the Marine Parks Department on Marine Binoculars for RM 56,350 or 2,805% higher than the market price of RM 1, 940 and RM 11,485 or 246% more for a laptop and a color printer although their market price was RM 3,428 and the items that were supplied was only worth RM 2,137.

尽管最近公布的2010年总稽查司报告将大部分政府部门在其财务管理方面评为“优秀”， 然而它也同时指出一些令人吃惊的弊端。民政党副主席拿督马袖强今天呼吁立即采取严厉行动对付那些出现严重奢侈做法的政府部门。

马袖强说，公众已不能容忍政府部门这种严重奢侈的做法，总稽查司的报告更显示这种现象每年都在发生。一些惊人的严重弊端，如：海洋公园局多支付马币５万６千３百５０令吉或２８０５％高于市价马币１千９百４０令吉的价格购取海洋望远镜，以及用了马币１万１千４百８５令吉或２４６％高于市价上马币３千４百２８令吉的价格购取一台笔记本电脑及彩色打印机，而其所提供的物品价值又仅值马币２千１百３７令吉而已。
